What is Sentimental and Symbolic

When Robin came to our store, she was very sad about losing her mom. She had left Robin with her diamond rings, but they were far too large for her finger and were not a style that she preferred to wear. As well, her engagement ring had lost a diamond and after 25 years of marriage, her wedding rings were looking pretty worn and needed several repairs. So... Robin asked Wong Ken's if it was possible to combine her mom's diamond rings along with her wedding rings to have a unique, custom, diamond ring made.

As we know, jewellery is a very personal choice. After discussing the process of designing and making a custom ring, Robin told us that the beautiful jewellery pieces she chooses are always symbolic of someone or somewhere, whether it's a gold bracelet with shapes of shells and fish to remind her of the wonderful holiday in Maui, a diamond ring with four stones to symbolize each family member, or a simple white gold pendant as a reminder of all the laughs she had on a holiday with friends. With this in mind, she was insistent that the rings she brought us be designed to symbolize her mom, dad, sister and her, as well as her and her husband and two children, AND, she wanted one stone for each of the family members left when her mom passed away.

We carefully considered all of the information Robin provided to us, and after examining the diamonds in the rings she left to make sure they were an acceptable quality, we were able to move forward with her ring design.

We had Robin come in to approve the design as well as the size of the ring. We were able to incorporate all of the diamonds she left us with. We used four gold bezel settings to symbolize the members of her families and the other seven white gold bezel settings represented those left when her mom passed. Needless to say, Robin was extremely pleased that we were able to capture all of her requests in the ring design process.

Our in-house, highly skilled jewellery designers then began the process of making Robin's ring from the design she had approved, and the final result was a high quality, heirloom piece that she will treasure forever, and will lovingly pass down to her daughter. Wong Ken's was able to capture the sentiment and the symbolism that was requested in this beautiful, custom diamond ring.

Jewellery is our passion, but that is only because we truly love the joy and satisfaction we see in our clients when they receive their custom jewellery.
